This is where something is seen in the way you want to see it for example there is a painting in an art gallary and you may think the painting is of a cloud however the painting is acutally of smoke in the air. The reason you thought it was was a cloud is because you percived it from a different angle, you may think that the painting is outdoors and there is not much light so it must be a cloud covering the sun. That is you perception of the painting. The actual painting is of a fire covered by somke.

Why is first impression important?
Making a Great First Impression!
The first impression that a person recieves from the other party is very important. There are many reasons why first impressions are important and here are a few,
*'It takes just a quick glance, maybe three seconds, for someone to evaluate you when you meet for the first time. In this short time, the other person forms an opinion about you based on your appearance, your body language, your demeanor, your mannerisms, and how you are dressed'.

* The better you present yourself, the more likely you are to achieve for example when you have a job interview, the interviewer will be looking for a well presented person with the right qualifications for the job role.
* Giving a good first impression helps to build your confidence with the situation presented for example you may need to present your ideas infront of a large audinece, if you are well dressed, puntual and have the correct information your self esteem will automatically be boosted resulting in better results.
As you can see the lady on the left is about to be interviewed for a new job role. she is well dressed, has a good body stance (back straight) and she has her qualifications in a pregress file. What this shows is that the lady came well prepered to the interview and this results in her having a better chance of getting the job than some who did not.
Now we have a man who is wearing a hoodie with blue jeans and a hat. this person seems as if he is getting ready to go to the park or out with friends. If this man went to an interview dressed like this it is unlikely he will get the job compared with the lady above as he does not seem to care. He has his hands in his pockets and is leaning against the wall witch shows that he is relaxed by his surroundings. At first impression the person may seem intimidating to the public as he has his hood up and is wearing dark clothes. Athough he may have a great personality the image he is giving does not suggest this.
